Madrid
Today, we woke up rested and recovered from jet lag. After a great breakfast we headed out on a bus tour of the city. We stopped for some photos at La Plaza de las Ventas, the largest bull ring in Spain. We knew we had a little free time in the evening, so the students asked to see tonight’s bull fight. Our guides organized the purchase of tickets for us. From there, we headed to the Prado museum, Spain’s premier classical art museum. We saw some amazing art by Spain’s two most famous classic artists, Velázquez and Goya. Then, we broke up in groups for lunch and a little afternoon free time. Many students enjoyed relaxing in a nearby garden/park, Jardines de Sabatini. Others went to the top of a nearby building to take some panoramic photos of the city. We all came back early to cleanup for the evening. Then, we took the metro to the bull ring and watched; it was quite the cultural experience. From there we hustled off to a tapas dinner and finished the evening off with a stroll through the Plaza de España and surrounding area. Tomorrow is a big and exciting day, as we take a trip to the medieval capital, Toledo.
